Each year when the watermelons are perfect for picking, the town of McDade, Texas gets together to show them off, celebrate with their community and families, and just have a good time.
Our town is located in Central Texas, Bastrop County, about 30 miles east of Austin on Hwy 290.
The festivities kick off Friday night with a street dance with live music, food and beverages.
Saturday at 7am the melon weigh-in begins, followed by a parade and a full day music, food, games, melon auction, and much, much more!

We have countless wonderful sponsors and all-volunteer staff that bring together this annual festival to benefit the community. All proceeds go to community-based organizations such as school sports programs, scholarships, Parent-Teacher initiatives, McDade Food Pantry, and the McDade Historical Society.
Please join us the second Friday and Saturday in July. We would love for you to be a part of our festival!
